VIP Red Carpet Event & Taste of Freedom Gala

In honor of the Florida Coalition Against Human Trafficking’s annual fundraising event, Scanlon Lexus has hosted a VIP event for its customers in order to raise more funds to go towards the nonprofit coalition.  The red-carpet event, which took place at the Scanlon Lexus dealership located in Fort Myers, Florida, was catered by DaRuMa. The event also had live jazz music and heartwarming speeches were given by Lexus managers. This fundraising event was designed to raise awareness about human trafficking in Southwest Florida, as well as, offer support and to empower victims.

Scanlon Lexus of Fort Myers is also a proud sponsor of the Florida Coalition Against Human Trafficking’s 4th annual fundraising gala event, “Taste of Freedom: Through the Looking Glass,” that will take place on Saturday, November 2, 2019, at the Fort Myers Event Center. Guests that did not have the opportunity to attend the event at Scanlon Lexus, have another opportunity to donate and attend a gala. Tickets for the Taste of Freedom event are available online. The funds raised during the event will go to aiding and servicing victims of human trafficking in Southwest Florida. Nonprofit partners of the coalition will also aid in providing housing for victims who are still minors.  The coalition hopes to raise enough funds from the event to create a long-term residential program for rescued victims. Scanlon Auto Group will sponsor the Gulf Coast Harmonizer’s Annual Charity Golf Extravaganza on Saturday, October 12, 2019, at the Shadow Wood Preserve in Estero, FL. Every year, the Gulf Coast Harmonizer’s host an annual charity golf day to raise funds for local nonprofits and youth services. Why did my Apple CarPlay Display Change?

Apple has officially released its iOS 13 update. The update not only offers new features for iPhone users but also gives a new look to the Apple CarPlay display interface in your Lexus! Let’s review the major changes you will see on your Lexus’s Apple CarPlay interface once you have updated your iPhone.

Multifunction Dashboard 

With the updated version of Apple CarPlay, you will no longer have to bounce back and forth between the different screens. The multifunction dashboard allows you to view destination directions, view the audio that is currently playing on your iPhone and your vehicle’s current location on a map. The photo to the right is the Apple CarPlay feature in a Lexus UX. To the left, you can see your current location. To the right, there are apps you can choose from. Siri On Any Screen

On the previous iOS software, using Siri meant having to look at another screen while waiting for Siri’s response. For example, if you were in the middle of getting directions or listening to an audio app, you would be instantly kicked from that screen on the previous software. Now,  Siri can be used on any screen at any time and you won’t miss your next turn. Siri can also provide assistance with apps associated with your at-home devices and security systems. Open your garage door, turn on your lights or unlock your front door all with a voice command. The Lexus UX has a voice command button dedicated to activating the voice command feature right on the steering wheel. Use Your iPhone and Still Have A CarPlay Display

You now have the ability to safely use your phone and have the Apple CarPlay feature still on display on your vehicle’s interface. Previously, if you were using your iPhone independently, the CarPlay feature would close. Now you can safely enjoy using your iPhone as well as an uninterrupted CarPlay session.

Other Update Features and What Stayed the Same

If you have updated your iPhone and chosen the ‘dark mode’ option for your iPhone’s display, you can now choose the ‘dark mode’ option for your Apple CarPlay screen as well. Enjoy a dimmed interface screen with the new software. The app suit of the Apple CarPlay feature stayed the same. Apple CarPlay users can choose the three-way interface or browse the app suit as they drive.

Update Risks

Many Lexus owners have experienced connectivity issues once they have updated their iPhones to the new iOS 13 software.  Owners either can not connect their iPhones at all or the connection drops after a short period of time. Unfortunately, this is an Apple issue and solutions for these issues are still in the works. iPhone users and Lexus owners update their software at their own risk.

2019 CROW Classic Golf Tournament

The New 2020 RX is Coming!

The all-new 2020 RX and RXL are on their way to Scanlon Lexus of Fort Myers! For the first time ever, the RX and RXL will feature Apple CarPlay and Andriod Auto standard.

The 8-inch touchscreen dashboard will now display the smartphone interface. 2. Andriod and iPhone Users Unite Under One Hood

The RX is the first Lexus vehicle to have both Andriod Auto and Apple Carplay features. Safely access apps, request playlists, have navigation display through voice commands or use the touchscreen or touchpad system in your 2020 Lexus RX and RXL.

3. Access Your Home From Your RX

With voice command, RX and RXL owners can check if their package has arrived and switch on the lights before arrival all without taking their eyes off the road. With Google assist and Amazon Alexa integrations, the Lexus Multimedia System display everything you need after syncing home services to your vehicle.

4. Siri, What’s the Weather Like?

Once you have synced your smartphone to your Lexus RX or RXL, you can hit the voice command button and ask for simple news updates and nearby location recommendations. Like all Lexus models, the 2020 RX and RXL will come in F Sport and Hybrid options. New color and trim options have been added to the RX family. Scanlon Auto Group Attends Go Red for Women Luncheon

Scanlon Auto Group attended the American Heart Association’s 2019 Southwest Florida Go Red for Women Luncheon. The event, that took place in Bonita Springs, was driven by a campaign that raises awareness of heart disease risks among women.

The annual event, near Fort Myers, not only drives collective community action in spreading heart disease awareness but also provides encouragement for women and their families to live healthier lives.

 

Proceeds from the event go to demanding equal access to healthcare for all women and their families, getting women interested in careers involving STEM to help future generations, providing more opportunities for women to lead healthier heart happy lives and building local Southwest Florida communities that prioritize women to take charge in their life-long heart health journey.

The 2019 Go Red for Women event took place near Naples, Florida. Attendees enjoyed a heart-healthy meal, were able to enter a raffle and participated in a private auction.

Rumrunner’s Celebrity Chef Night

Scanlon Auto Group attended the 15th Annual Celebrity Chef Night at Rumrunners in Cape Harbour! The event’s proceeds will support Barbara’s Friends cancer services at Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida. Our management team and their loved ones enjoyed culinary excellence from Chef Todd Johnson and Chef Ralph Centalonza of Rumrunners. Other culinary celebrities in attendance were Norman Love Confections and other local chefs.

The night featured a champagne toast drawing to win a custom-made Mark Loren Design piece, a silent auction featuring hand-signed memorabilia from the worlds of sports and entertainment, as well as trips and travel to some great destinations and popular events throughout the US – and like always a live auction filled with unique packages.

The annual event has always been a success, last year it raised more than $150,000 for the cancer fund. This year, the event raised $110,000. Annually, Scanlon donates more than $100,000 locally! Apple CarPlay & Your Lexus

 

Apple CarPlay is one of the best standard features select Lexus models have to offer! Let’s answer some questions you may have about Apple CarPlay!

What is Apple CarPlay?

Apple CarPlay is a safe way to use your iPhone in your Lexus. Anything you want to do on your iPhone is displayed right on your Lexus’s built-in multimedia display. Once your iPhone is connected, you can get directions, make calls, send text messages, receive text messages and listen to music without having to physically complete these functions on your iPhone. Enjoy popular CarPlay friendly apps such as Apple Maps, Google Maps, Spotify, Apple Music, Waze and much much more!

What is the cost of Apple CarPlay?

Apple CarPlay comes standard on select 2019 Lexus models. Enjoy navigation and entertainment from your Lexus without any additional cost of a built-in navigation system!

How do I connect my iPhone to Apple CarPlay?

First, make sure you have the required material to use Apple CarPlay:

• An iPhone 5 or newer iPhone model
• Your iPhone is updated to iOS 7.1 or newer
• A USB cable that connects to your iPhone (your iPhone always needs to be connected via the USB cable while using Apple CarPlay).
• A compatible Lexus model equipped with Apple CarPlay:
  – 2019 Lexus LC500 or newer
  – 2019 Lexus RC200 and RC300 or newer
  – 2019 Lexus LS500 or newer
  – 2019 Lexus UX or newer
  – 2019 Lexus ES with navigation package and on select models with the Lexus Multimedia System or vehicles produced after October of 2018, see your Lexus dealer if you are unsure
  – Select NX vehicles (Vehicles produced after October of 2018, see your Lexus dealer if you are unsure)
  – RC F vehicles (Vehicles produced after October of 2018, see your Lexus dealer if you are unsure)
  – 2020 RX or newer

Once you have all of the required materials, you’re ready to start connecting your iPhone! Let’s begin step-by-step instructions on how to connect your iPhone to your Lexus and use Apple CarPlay.

Step 1: Ensure Siri is enabled on your iPhone. To check the status of Siri, go to your iPhone’s settings and click “Siri & Search”. Once you are there, enable the two settings “Press Home for Siri” and “Allow Siri When Locked”.

Step 2: Unlock your iPhone then, using a certified USB cable, connect your iPhone to your Lexus. Depending on your iPhone’s settings, it may prompt you with a message asking you to allow CarPlay even when your iPhone is locked. If prompted, click “Allow” so you will not have to unlock your iPhone every time you use CarPlay.

Step 3: Your Lexus Multimedia Display should now have an Apple CarPlay popup where you can choose if you want CarPlay to be enabled once or always enabled. If you don’t receive this popup or if you want to change the enabled settings later, go to Menu > Setup > General on your Lexus’s Multimedia Display and change the Apple CarPlay setting to ON. Step 4: You’re ready to launch! Press the menu button on your vehicle’s Remote Touch Interface then select Apple CarPlay. Now that Apple CarPlay is active, you can click any app and lunch it. Your most recently used apps will appear on the left side of your Lexus Multimedia Display.

 

Apple CarPlay features like Siri voice control can be activated when you press and hold the Voice Command button on your steering wheel.

Issues with Lexus Enform Remote ?

Scanlon Lexus of Fort Myers wants you to know about the Lexus Enform Remote initial connecting process.

There are some 2016 vehicles that are remaining in Pending Status after opting into Service Connect and/or LER. The drive activation process is necessary for the car to start transmitting data. In addition to the 2 drive cycles, the car needs to have a good cellular connection for the entire time.

All MY2016 Lexus vehicles (except standard audio CT200h) are eligible for Service Connect and LER. Please see below required information when you enroll for Service Connect and/or LER.

The following sequence must occur:
After opting in for Service Connect and/or LER, you must drive the vehicle for a minimum of 15 minutes (continuously) without turning off the engine. Then, you must turn off the engine and drive the vehicle for an additional 15 minutes (again without turning off their vehicle) in order for Service Connect and/or LER to activate. Note: There are no exceptions to this required drive cycle. You must drive the vehicle for the 15 minutes each time. Anything under 15 minutes does not count towards activating their Enform Services. After your drive cycles are completed, it may take up to 48 hours for their vehicles to activate Service Connect and/or LER.

For Service Connect and or LER: MY2016
If LER remote commands are not working, please check the following:
1. Confirm that you have a 2016 vehicle.
2. Confirm you opted in for Lexus Enform Remote when you took delivery.
3. Have you driven the required 2 drive cycles (15 minutes each)?
